I’m Allison Woolsey – geologist, beekeeper, and potter. I fell in love with pottery in high school, and I've loved playing in clay my whole life. I only got back into pottery within the last few years and am learning it on my own.
Where did the name Firefly Ridge Pottery come from? The area where we live is a locally known ridge in north Mississippi. I had agonized for probably a year trying to figure out a name local to me but also unique. After a summer evening star-gazing, (yes, really!) which included the company of fireflies/lightning bugs (whichever you prefer), the name just came to me. I am so lucky to live in a place where I can see stars and fireflies.
I hope you enjoy the pottery that I enjoy making.
